What are bioidentical hormones?
Bioidentical hormones, as we use them specifically for you, are substances that correspond 1:1 in their chemical structure to the body's own hormones. They are extracted from diosgenin - a steroidal sapogenin - from the yam root. Dr. Bernhardt also speaks of nature-identical or body-identical hormones. They are identical to our body's natural hormones in terms of their effect and absorption. The organism therefore recognizes bioidentical hormones as its own and integrates them seamlessly into the hormonal processes.

Do I need a prescription for treatment with biohormones?
Yes, treatment with bioidentical hormones requires a prescription. After a precise diagnosis, you will receive an individual Magistral prescription, which can only be obtained from specialized pharmacies (we work together with the Vitaluce pharmacy in Hochdorf). Please note: Therapies with bioidentical hormones are not automatically reimbursed by the compulsory basic health insurance (KVG). Partial or full reimbursement via your supplementary insurance (VVG) is possible depending on the individual contract.

Which hormones do we test you for?
As part of bioidentical hormone therapy, we test pregnenolone and DHEA (pre-hormones), serotonin, SHBG (transport hormone), the androgenic and oestrogenic hormones (testosterone, estradiol, progesterone) as well as cortisol and insulin.

Our practice aims to improve your individual quality of life. As always with medical treatment, it is important to point this out: Therapy does not work equally well for all patients. It may be that the therapy has no positive effects and does not help. There is no guaranteed effect.
Side effects can also occur, as bioidentical hormones interfere with the hormone balance despite their „natural“ structure. Possible undesirable effects include temporary weight gain due to water retention and, in women, a feeling of tightness in the breasts, headaches or nausea.
